Spring Hair And Makeup Tips

Now that spring is here, and summer is just around the corner, it’s time to ditch those deep browns and winter tones in the hair and makeup and brighten them up!

There are plenty of different ways to do so with you hair. You could do a heavy full head of highlights, or even a partial just to brighten up your face and crown area.

Also, you could do color melting or ombre for more of a fashion statement with your hair. A bonus of brightening your hair with more blonde is it also makes you look tanner than you are, and who doesn’t wanna be tan?

For your make up, you could choose shimmer colors vs. a matter shadow or blush. With the slight shimmer in the makeup you would be using it allows the sun to slightly reflect off of it, giving you that sun kissed look with your skin.

Be sure not to over do the shimmer though, or you can look like you dumped a bucket of glitter all over you in the sun, and nobody wants to be a Cullen. Also, change up the darker shades you’re using and go more towards a lighter shade of that color. Even a light brown is more brightening to the face vs. a deep chocolate brown.

For Mother’s Day I would recommend to my mother the Aveda Damage Control Shampoo as well as the Color Preserve Conditioner.

I use these two products on a daily basis due to the fact that my mother and I, color treat our hair. Aveda products are made up of all natural ingredients that come from different parts of the world. These products are also organic and produce great results. I would recommend any spa treatment for any mother.

Mother’s Day is the day to show appreciation to the women that brought us into this world so it would only be right to give them a peaceful day to relax and enjoy their special day without any distractions.

I would also recommend a gift basket full of Aveda products. It could be an aroma, any type of makeup, hair products, nail care, etc. Someone also can get their mother a gift card for an Aveda salon, if they have those, for a manicure, pedicure, or facial.

Updo Hairstyles Perfect For Prom

It’s officially Prom season! With the books completely filled with updos, pedicures, and makeup applications, I was honored to have Elisa Gomez come in for her prom makeover.

Elisa had shown me multiple images of ideas she had, and after much deliberation we had chosen a nice side updo filled with curls.

Seeing Miss Gomez had hair down to her lower back, I knew I would need a lot of hairspray and hairpins! I started taking small sections of the hair and misting it with Air Control for a light prep hold.

After I took the curling iron to her hair, I gave a top layer coat of Control Force to really hold the curl.

After getting everything pinned up and in place just the way Elisa wanted, we dusted the whole head with Witch Hazel Hair Spray for the final hold.

Elisa had told me that her dress was a mint green color so she wanted her makeup to correspond with that. Overcome with joy, I knew that I got to use the new Spring Makeup collection!

After giving Elisa everything she came in for today, I have her a huge hug and sent her off for a night full of fun. She got my cellphone number so she can send me photos from tonight and also come get her hair done before she heads off to FSU!

I am a mother of three teenagers, and two of my children’s birthdays are in May. So it would be an understatement to say that I desire more than the familiar Mother’s Day fanfare. Beauty School Tips To Refresh This Spring

I’m currently using Aveda’s tea tree oil under my eyes to help reduce my tired look and relax wrinkles. I love the smell of this product and the results I get from it when I wake up in the morning.

I’m also using Aveda’s cucumber mask that helps reduce redness and inflammation after I give myself mini facials. This product instantly calms my face and it smells great.

I recently purchased lipstick by Aveda and extra firm hairspray. To my surprise the lipstick has a lasting pigment and it also has a unique smell that only Aveda has. The hairspray is the perfect hold and the spray nozzle is just what I like. I love my Aveda products and I will continue to purchase them and try out other Aveda products.

I’m looking forward to using Aveda’s hair care systems and finishing serums!! Aveda has the best products!!

This season I decided to give the Aveda Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner a try and I love the results I have had! I get a couple of tones of golden highlights in my hair – usually every month. Now I find that I only need to have them touched up every 2 months or so because these products help keep the tone so well.. not to mention the soothing smell of the chamomile I get to expereince every morning that relaxes me before school.

I find that this shampoo and conditioner combination do not cause build up and sufficiently hydrates my hair.

To change my look I traded in my flat iron for the Be Curly line by Aveda. This system is designed to enhance curl while adding moisture and shine. Perfect for us curly haired girls who struggle with dull, sad, frizzy curls.

Start off by using the Be Curly shampoo and conditioner to enhance the curl and prep for styling. I recommend letting the hair air dry and while still damp use the curl controller and finish off with the enhancing spray. Voila! What will you do to refresh your look?

Earth Month – A Dance To The Music Of Earth

Back in October NASA discovered that the Earth was singing to us.

Radio waves emanating from the Van Allen belts that circle the planet were sampled at a CD-like bit rate by orbital probes. The result of all those dangerous loose electrons whizzing around up there was called “Chorus,” and it turned out to sound like whale song mixed with crickets.

Well, it was only a matter of time before that soothing noise was accompanied by the two things humans tend to do with music: a remix and some interpretive dance. The music came courtesy of Kerry Muzzey, a writer of TV and movie themes (including one from Glee); the dance is by DS2DIO (pronounced D-studio), a popular YouTube lifestyle channel with nearly 10 million total views.

The resulting video, above, directed by Emmy-nominated choreographer Christopher Scott, is probably one of the better mental health breaks you’ll get this Earth Month.

So sit back, relax, listen to the literal music of the spheres, and watch some humans spin in slow-motion like the blue-green orb they live on.
