Cosmetology Schools Jacksonville – Q & A with current AVEDA student Jr Feltham

Q: What made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in cosmetology?

A: I have always been amazed by the transformation a new hair style or make-up application can give, not only a persons appearance, but their over all happiness. As a child I remember sitting quietly and being completely entertained as my Mom did her hair and makeup. This pretty much carried on through adulthood, except now I was watching friends and roommates get ready to go out and have some fun ourselves!

Throw in living with multiple stylist throughout the years – I would watch them do hair at work and some “illegal kitchen hair” (home salons) from time to time! Once I had to go back to the office Monday through Friday at a trucking company I realized how jealous I was that my closest friends are all doing what they love and get to personally touch someones life and see the results daily.

I. Had. To. Do. Something! I started 2011 with a 2 week business trip to Seattle and Portland, it was the most challenging trip I had taken so far. While sitting at the bar at my Hotel I ran into a stylist who was in town to try and start his own product line. We chatted for quite a while and I realized that all the parts of the business world that I enjoy are all available in the world of Beauty.

For some reason until that point I had never put the two together. A month or so later I was invited to attend a hair show in New Orleans, LA with some friends and OF COURSE it was a blast!

A month after that I quit my job and began attending the Jacksonville Institute and have not looked back since! This has been one of the most amazing journey so far and it’s barely begun. Thankful to have a great support system along the way!
