After working in a Foreclosure Law Firm for over 3 years and trying to figure out what I would major in for my B.A. Degree… I decided to go to cosmetology school.
I have always been a girly girl. Since I was 3 years old, my mother always had my hair looking perfectly, with matching bows to my dress and the perfect little shoes. As a teenager and young adult, I found my personal style was always something that needed to be kept up. I love fashion, hair & makeup, so I guess you could say I am a triple threat when it comes to shopping!
After going to J-CON, an AVEDA Salon in St. Petersburg, FL, I decided that I would stay with AVEDA Salons forever because I fell in love with the products, message and overall experience of my visits. After leaving my law firm in May, I decided I needed to find out what makes me truly happy in life. I mentioned starting school here to my hair stylist, and of course he thought it was a fabulous idea. It was a big commitment though, and I felt like I needed more time to think about it.
Well, I always loved the parts in movies where they do makeovers! And I love doing other peoples hair and make-up before going to an event… so why was it taking me so long to realize that this was my calling?? So, I inquired about the AVEDA Institute in June 2011 (even though it is more than 30 miles from my house in Tampa) and literally 5 seconds after my inquiry was sent online, their admissions office called me to set up an appointment. It just so happened that they had started classes that very week, and admissions was so impressed with me, they asked if I could start right away.
The rest is history! Needless to say, I am absolutely in love with what I do. I can not wait to start my career as a cosmetologist. However, I am enjoying my time at the school and will continue to savor these moments until I graduate in July 2012!
