Trends on South Beach

by Victoria Bell on October 2, 2011

South Beach, FL is one of the notorious cities in Florida for its fashion. We definitely consider ourselves one of the fashion havens of the world, and our hair is no exception. Fall 2011 has been one of our edgiest seasons yet, with runways and everyday guests pushing the limits of fashion, incorporating runway looks in the everyday routines.

South Beach fashion pulls a lot of their inspiration from the 20′s and 70′s and 80′s.

From the 20′s the finger waves are coming back with a bang! You can imitate this look simply making a “C” shape in your hair and using a curling iron to heat it, then making a “C” in the other direction and heating it with your curling iron. Continue this through out your whole head then brush through it a little to blend all your waves and finish your look off with some AVEDA Air Control hair spray!

The 70′s are making a splash with the long wavy hair. You can achieve this by using the same technique as the finger wave, but simply brush through it more to relax the wave. This is a very beachy, relaxed look that you can incorporate in the day time or the evening!

Lastly the funky 80′s. I personally love and have embraced this era. This era is popping up throughout South Beach with the harder, edgier angles. A-symmtric hair cuts and undercuts are becoming very popular. With pop icons like Lady Gaga and Rihanna people are becoming more bold and daring with their hair which have brought the 80′s back!

Thank you for reading my blog and if you would like to try out any of these styles go to your closest AVEDA school salon and we will be more than happy to do these amazing styles for you!
