Staying fashion forward on a student budget

by Melissa Martin on October 1, 2011

Keeping up with the latest fashion doesn’t have to break your budget. Without proper strategy it can really be expensive. As students we can still keep up with the trends. We just need to know and plan ahead what we want. Knowing our personal style gives us a glimpse of what we are looking for in differrent seasons. There’s so many good places to get cheap stuff and good quality. Instead of going straight to retail stores try discount places such as (Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Loehmann’s etc.). It’s good to do spring cleaning in your closet to check pieces that can still be used and the ones that you don’t like. This can help you decide what else you need.

Also, online shopping has tremendous discounts as well. Another way of not breaking the budget is to sell old clothes on ebay or at consignment shops and that way you can use that money for new things. Making your own accessories intstead of buying. Michaels is a good place to get stuff for crafts. One more thing to consider not to do is shopping when you are sad, I know it sounds weird but when we tend to be down we are more impulsive in our decisions. So, being fashionable is being creative and being creative doesn’t have to be expensive.
