The saying, “Everything old is new again” has never rung more true than as of late. I’ve always been utterly fascinated with anything from the golden era of Hollywood through the 60′s and 70′s; there was something so timeless and classic about the hairstyles and clothes back then, and it is so easy to take cues from those styles and incorporate them into your every day look.

The best example of a current celebrity that employs these tricks flawlessly is the British singer Adele. For those not in the know, she has the most exquisite, soulful voice and sings the kind of music that is at once modern and nostalgic all at once. Her entire appearance hearkens back to the 50′s and 60′s, when bouffants and cat eyes were all the rage. She is consistently polished and classy, and has become a huge style inspiration for me. The simple act of teasing the hair at the crown, then wrapping hair around of the base of a ponytail can take any look from drab to fab, and she is the epitome of that. My retro inspiration is, and always has been, Elizabeth Taylor. She is flawless, timeless, ageless perfection and has inspired millions of people around the world, not just because of her impeccable beauty, but also her good deeds and charitable contributions. Nothing is more stylish than having a cause that you will put your heart and soul into, and that is one of the many reasons I admire her, as well as AVEDA cosmetology schools.

Her beauty was rare, but the touch of red lipstick and impeccably groomed eyebrows are a trademark that any woman can adopt into her own daily beauty routine. She was a woman of the times, and that is reflected in every era in which she lived.
