The Perfect Pin-Up Hair

by Jill Pucciarelli on September 2, 2011

Going to the movies is one of my favorite summer activities. This summer I went to see Captain America, the movie was good but what I was most impressed with was the awesome period hair! Going to the best beauty school in Florida, I can hardly help myself!

Captain America was set in 1942 at the beginning of WWII dawn of the pin-up and age of the finger wave. Hayley Atwel’s character, Peggy Carter, keeps her hair flawless as she assists Captain America save the world for the first time. (She would have done so well at the AVEDA school!) I was defintely inspired by the movie to try some pin-up hair of my own at home! It reminded me of what a great era that was for hair! To get your own awesome pin-up air is really simple: use hot rollers or simply sleep in curlers.

For extra silky smooth curls prep your hair with AVEDA’s Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother, it makes it easer to style your hair after. To get autherntic curls roll them horizontally, for a more modern ‘Farrah Fawcett’ look, roll them vertically.

To avoid the having your curls drooping in this terrible summer moisture spray your curls with hair spray. I like to use AVEDA’s Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray because it offers long-lasting hold and humidity defense. Then simply unroll clip in a flower to give it that period look and your done!

I hope I could inspire somone to go out and try your own pin-up look.
