The movie I would have like to do makeup for, as a student of the best beauty school in Florida, would have to be ‘The Tree of Life’.

I would have loved to do the makeup for ‘The Tree of Life’…what a story line, what a cast! Makeup is all about transformation, as is life, as a person enter different stages in his or her life so does the face. There is so much you can do with makeup; it takes you from sad to happy in a second, day to night, soft to bold, Broadway to Hollywood.

The bulk of movie makeup is geared to cosmectic effects. Makeup has a vital component in movies since the earliest days. There is always a story behind makeup. Movie makeup is more than just making older stars look young it’s about a story and this story is about life.

Think about all the expressions one can create with makeup. Makeup and special effects have become more intertwined over the past few decades. The work of applying makeup can be quite time consuming. Even simply preparing an actor’s face to appear on camera can take a hour or more, but, who’s counting when you are doing the faces of Sean Penn and Brad Pitt!? Jean A Black and Darylin Nagy are 2 lucky people-(LOL)- makeup artist to the movie. Jean A Black, artist to Brad PITT. This cosmetology student is jealous! Hopefully once I graduate from the AVEDA school in Miami, that will be me!
