I’m often asked, “how do you keep all of your beauty supplies organized?”

As an innovative cosmetologist, I carry a wide variety of brushes, combs, clips, curling irons, flat irons, shears and styling products. But what I find highly beneficial (which sets a neat stylist apart from the sloppy colorist) is organization and structured guidelines that allow you to find what you need in a quick and efficient manner. Instead of rummaging through cabinets, wasting 5 minutes looking for a thermal comb, you’ll be ready to give the best haircut your client will get.

Here’s a few simple items I use to protect my items from going missing and needing to buy new ones.

1. Buy lots of plastic containers to carry all your combs and brushes in. Get some that are big, some small, some wide or narrow– whatever works best for you. Yes, the same containers you use to store your food and old household utensils can be utilized to store your expensive $300.00 shears you purchased at the hair show you went to last week or that Fancy brush you bought at the local beauty supply store you went to last weekend. Placing your products in these reliable storage units helps eliminate the need to savagely look for your items and assures your guest that they’re in good hands.
2. Make sure you mark your stuff with your name or decorative designs to help remember who you lent your brush to. Doing this also helps prevent accidentally losing or confusing professional beauty products.
3. Wash & disinfect everything after each client. Not only will it keep your space clean and tidy but your clients will feel confident that they’re getting a professional hair cut from a cosmetologist who knows what they’re doing.
