When choosing the right color make-up for any client there are other factors beside skin to consider. Their eye color and lip color are a factor as well. On lighter skinned clients I like to use any colors that are pastels or very vibrant. I try to stay away from browns and neutrals. Then I look at their eye color and try to make their eyes “pop” by making those the focal point of my make-up application. For the lips I try to stay in a rosy tone or a bright red or pink. Colors such as these tend to give those with lighter skin a young fresh look.
Another factor to consider is age. The older your client is the more subtle you want their make-up to look. Unless your client is youthful it is advised to stay away from the bright colors which will age your clients look. Try to keep an aged client looking soft and accent their most youthful features. Brushing a tinted gloss or a clear one to accent the lips is sometimes the best kind of subtle touch you client needs.Lighter-skinned clients should stay away from harsh tones and be careful of things like blush and bronzer. Even finding a correct shade of concealer can be a challenge depending on how light-skinned the client is. Translucent powder can sometimes be enough for those who have the lightest skin.
