Best Cosmetology School Advice

by Sarah Mallow on May 4, 2011

Since I started Aveda I’ve learned a lot of amazing things that will really serve me well in the beauty industry, but the one thing that I find to be the most important has actually taken me the longest to grasp. That’s why my best beauty school advice is don’t be afraid to just jump in and do it! Do what, you ask? Well, anything and everything!

When I first started Aveda I was scared I would mess everyone’s hair up and so I didn’t want to be on the floor doing hair, but I’m a cosmetologist and that’s exactly what we do: Hair! As a cosmetologist you need to be confident in yourself and all that you do. You need to say to yourself and your guests, “Heck yea, I can do this!” And then it’s all a lot easier to succeed in. Confidence in yourself is the key!

At Aveda we do a lot of crazy wellness’s and I used to think they were all kind of stupid, but as I’ve progressed throughout the program I’ve learned that there’s more to a wellness than just getting a break and having fun. Most wellness’s we do are to grow ourselves and make us more aware of who we are as human beings. Through different wellness’s I have gone through I’ve learned that I need to be more confident and just get out there and do what I do best. So, that is basically why my best beauty school advice to anyone starting is to just get out there, do what you do best, and have a blast doing it!
