What It’s Like at Aveda

by Anthony Pernicka on April 12, 2011

I moved to Florida from Seattle a month before school started. I didn’t know a single person besides my family who lives in Gainesville. Since I moved here, I have made a family full of amazing friends. The people are so diverse, its fun to hear everyone’s stories. The school is really great allowing you to express your creativity and encouraging you to take risks and follow your gut instinct. In class, we have been able to do updo competitions, fashion shows, fundraisers.. basically everything under the sun. The educators here help you learn by taking babysteps throughout the entire 13 month program. If you ever feel uncomfortable with any sort of task, they’ll stand right by you, helping you all the way. This experience has been amazing for me. Learning all of the backgrounds of the educators and they’re experience in this field is very interesting. There are many different paths you can take with this career. The school periodically has Car eer Fair which is all of the Aveda salons in the area come and explain what their salon is like, what type of employees they are looking for, the benefits provided, and advanced training classes they provide. Thanks
