Having all this preconceived ideas of what my future as a hairstylist would be, and filled with the highest expectations made my job of finding the right school seem almost impossible. I researched and visited many locations but unfortunately they all lead me to feel that at the end of my studies my major accomplishment would be a license rather than a feeling of pride and mind full of knowledge. That all changed as soon as I walked into the Aveda Institute, my second home. The first thing I noticed was the welcoming and powerful attitude of the people in the front of the house as I entered the school. I realized that they believed in the brand and what it stands for, which made me want to feel that way and be part of that team. That was a very important moment for me because after seeing those other schools I had already started to doubt the fact that someone took the beauty school industry as serious enough as I wanted it to be. All the other schools seemed just like a room with furniture and Aveda had a cause and the pride that I wanted to represent.

As the introductory phase went on, I got to meet our talented instructors who where not only the teachers but an inspiration. With time more of their stories got known and it was awesome to know where they came from, where they have been and how they now are so inspired to give back and help the next generation of artists become the best hairstylist we could be. This confirmed I had made the right decision by choosing this school because I am sure no other school would have the pride of having such a stimulating and knowledgeable team.

I also noticed that those other schools try to steer away from focus on their facilities or products claiming that their focus is on learning. At Aveda, I have realized that as important as it is for us to have knowledge of techniques what you represent by the products you use and the facilities you work at is just as important for your future with guests. While working in the beauty industry, everything around you matters and it is so important to have that as a building block to my career. Aveda has high standards and has pushed me more that I ever thought it would, but in doing so, it has made me a better person. I now feel ready to go into the world and share all my knowledge and good wishes for any guest I might get the opportunity to impact. It has made me create things that I did not think I would be capable of doing. I now feel like I must rightfully represent not only myself but my school as my career grows. Which is more that what I would ever want; How many students can say that their school changed their way of viewing the world.
