Student Life at AVEDA Tallahassee

Tallahassee Beauty SchoolEncompassing a wide variety of culture in a tightly knit community, Tallahassee, Florida brings a new spin on city life. With an established state university in residence, Tallahassee has become a cultural destination for those desiring a world wide attraction for knowledge and intellectual invigoration. Described as one of the states’ most enticing cities, Tallahassee offers museums, an outdoor retreat with nature trails and the life aquatic. Culture fiends can seek out any one of our numerous music venues and cultural festivals. Ever changing and evolving, you won’t be bored when venturing around Tallahassee. My advice to a day tripper: always have your eyes open, there is so much more to Tallahassee below the surface. The beauty found within the city juxtaposes old world traditionalism and the nuances of emerging culture. The interaction is highly evident wherever you trek.

Closest to the AVEDA Institute Tallahassee is our beloved Tennessee strip; student living to the max. Many family owned restaurants and staple traditions for university living: Bullwinkle’s – the bar catering to students and their shenanigans promises a memorable night. Floyd’s Music Store stages some of the industry’s leading acts and entertainers. Mainly showcasing rock, this venue is home to many reggae and hip/hop/rap groups as well. Numerous eateries line the strip, Little Athens Gyro, Birds Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack (offering karaoke), Gumby’s Pizza and many others.

Moving further out, you’ll discover an art driven scene of students and individuals who converse, collaborate and amuse each other at local coffee shops and bars along the Railroad square avenue. The St. Michael’s neighborhood is home to several culturally unique bars, with nearby Euphoria tattoos offering some of the most talented artists in the city and quite possibly elsewhere. There’s a raw, in your face experience on this side of town. The real Tallahassee. Diverse and influential musical acts can be found at the Engine room @Railroad sq, which also hosts local acts and explosive dance parties with local DJs’. Every first of the month there is a gathering of artists and their talents at “First Friday Gallery Hop,” where locals from all over and all ages come out to enjoy the carefree music and company of friends. Seek out Fermentation Lounge, where the night is always young and patrons mingle and meet new people in this crossway between the colleges and the citizens.

Tallahassee Beauty SchoolLest we forget, the FSU campus holds the most diverse of all musical acts in its campus venues, including the Club Down Under located in Oglesby Union. Like the Engine Room, Down Under holds the variety factor as its backbone. Student activities, seminars, lectures, and comedy acts abound.

There is much more to be explored in Tallahassee: many parks, the natural world (Wakulla Springs), and shopping. Don’t forget about Midtown Tallahassee: Waterworks, Club Rain, 20/20 nightclub, Kool Beans Café, Manor @ Midtown and all its amenities.

A high concentration of different cultures, ideas and philosophies within a small radius means that in our daily lives we connect with different types of people who allow us to grow and become more forward thinking and driven. Yes we are surrounded by beaches and nightlife, however, it’s the culture that we identify as a source of pride. If ever you find yourself saying what do I do, you sometimes just have to stop and ask. . . Where should I go?
