The Hair Lifestyle in Orlando

by Chris Wells on October 26, 2010

Take a moment and think about when you were young and you dreamed of going to the place where life was a fairy tale. You knew it would be the best day of your life when your parents uttered the words “you’re going to Disney World”. Considering, I am from Orlando, Florida I found myself hearing those words quit often. Orlando being the theme park capital of world you initially think that is all it has to offer. What most people are not aware of would be the second life that Orlando lives.

The lifestyle I have access to as a student at Aveda would be considered greater than most in the surrounding area. Attending beauty school I’ve met people that I probably wouldn’t have crossed paths with at any other hair school. From a cultural prospective the Aveda institute has its own- due to the diversity of its students. Park Avenue is always a blast; spending a day on Park Avenue would be in comparison to spending a day on rodeo drive. Many occasions I’ve gone to dinner, shopped, networked, amongst other things with my friends. Also, the nightlife here is fantastic; I go to events, openings & fashion shows from some of the local designers in the area. Downtown is where a lot of us spend most of our nights, its hip, entertaining, and always events in play. At times, when I want to take a moment to not be as potent, I find myself sitting back while watching the game at any of the local hangout spots on Wall Street. During the last basketball final Downtown was the hangout spot for all. The new cast resided their daily to do segments on the exuberate statue of fans that came to the local hangout spots to cheer for the Orlando Magic. It was large, exciting and showed the type people that we have in our community. Not only is the nightlife here great, but our beaches are quite popular. Daytona Beach housed spring break for many years where people from all over came here to participate in the festivities.

In our community at AIO, we enjoy giving back, from raising money for breast cancer, earth month, adopting streets and being able to control our foot print. Being a student at Aveda you gain access to nightlife, community functions, and charities that I may not have gotten access to had I attended a northern school. Not stating they don’t give back to society, but because they don’t stand for the Aveda way. If I was to attend a school I wouldn’t have the weather that I love so much here, or the social life that is so outstanding. So whenever, you think of Orlando, Florida again try not to think of Disney World. Take a moment and ponder on the other life that is here, the restaurants, the bright lights, the nightlife, the atmosphere, the social scene. It’s all a part of Orlando, actually it is Orlando.
