Five Latest Trends in Hairstyling

by Christene Funderburk on October 26, 2010

Hair has always been more than just something that lies on top of your head, it’s more than something that you have to take care of or move out of the way. Your hair is what defines you. It defines your style and how you carry yourself. It shows commitment and dedication. There are many hair trends out there, some harder to create than the rest. At Aveda you are walked through the steps of how to create many looks. You are kept up to date with the latest trends. This school is one of the best things to ever happen to me because looking back on it now I was out of style and didn’t keep up with the latest trends. Going to Aveda has honestly changed my life. The dedication of both teachers and staff has helped to change the way I look at new styles and has increased my appreciation towards people that keep up with trends.

There are a lot of hair styles that pass through the years. I as a student have been able to not only enjoy the final out come of the latest trends but have also been able to take part in creating the look. Out of all the trends out there I was asked to pick five of my favorites. They include; bizarre colors with bold highlighting, a variety of layering in the hair, sophisticated updos, curls that are only in the bottom of the hair, and hair that has maximum volume at the root but is straight at the ends.

Aveda has opened up so many opportunities for me to participate in creating these looks and better my skills to be a professional hair dresser in the future. They have smaller class sizes so we get individualized attention.

Aveda offers many colors, some bizarre, but most are natural. They have taught me how to apply color to hair which helps a lot because I never knew how to. They have also showed me the correct way to place both subtle and bold highlighting in hair. This has opened me up to being more experimental with my own hair and seeing the out come gives me the confidence I need to do well in the future.

Aveda has also showed me the correct way to put a wide assortment of layers in hair. It’s helpful to know this due to the fact the “in” thing to do is have layers. It is also trendy to have a bold cut which I have also learned during my stay at Aveda. Layering is my favorite thing to do because if you look at people who are famous or even people on the streets every one has them. It is the cool thing to do.

Sophisticated updos are also important to me. Aveda teaches a mixture of updos. I always thought they looked cool since everyone wears them to special events. I think I am more excited to learn this trend because the outcome not only looks nice but there are so many! Everything about them is interesting and everyone wears them at least once in there life. This school has prepared me to do styles for many events including proms, weddings, homecomings, and other important events.

Curls at the bottom of the hair are becoming very popular, people want something that stands out while still being casual and this is the hair style to do. It can be done on short hair, long hair, or medium length hair. It is very trendy and surprisingly simple, with the right educators of course.

Volume is also coming back into style. It gives the hair more vaboom, just something that people seem to want. I like seeing the finished outcome of volume because it is more than just hair laying flat and there are so many styles that can be used with it. Runway models have it, actresses have it, and it is a great look to have.
